Welcome to the Casting Directors Society of Canada website. This site was setup to ensure that Canadian Casting Directors information was available to anyone interested in working in Canada.
CASTING DIRECTORS
This site is the information centre for casting directors in Canada: it is a data base as well as a support system. We work together to help each other - whether you need to find another casting director’s contact information or if you want to consult someone about an actor or a negotiation, this is the place to look. If you need to reference our Constitution or read the latest news concerning casting, you’ll find it here. We will also inform you about the Gemini Award for Best Achievement in Casting: check out who won in the past and when the nominations are announced see who the nominees are for the current year. You’ll find it all here on the CDC website.
PRODUCERS & DIRECTORS
Casting is a vital part of your production and we’re here to help. Even in the planning stages we can provide you with information about actors, help interpret the collective agreements with regard to actors, and help in the budgeting of the talent portion of your overall expenses. You can find a specific casting director here and get his or her contact information. If you need information about who specializes in a certain area, we can advise you. If you want to be directed to a casting director who can best fulfill your needs, we have experts who can help.
AGENTS & ACTORS
Casting directors are your link to working on productions across the country. If you’re trying to locate a specific casting director, you can find him or her here. If you need information about anything to do with casting, this is the place to look.
Please feel free to browse or search through our membership using the navigation menus on the left of the site; or, learn about the CDC's history, mandate and membership policies using the menus on the right.
The Casting Directors Society Of Canada (CDC) was born in 1981, in response to the need for a collective identity, community, communication and support within the independent casting industry in Canada.
Interaction within the casting community means better information, one of the most indispensable tools of good casting. Better information means better results in all facets of running an independent company – better negotiation, better protection and better outcomes across the board.
The CDC Constitution includes framing superior standards and business practices for all its membership, building an improved level of service. The CDC member Casting Director has an entire community behind him/her, assuring quality work for clients working in or coming to Canada.
